Why Get a Chair Massage

Live Holistically is a multi-author site.

Massage chairIn just a few minutes you can relax and get some or a lot of your stress down loaded. No need to slip out of your clothes. If the chair used for massage challenges you
in any way, you can ask to simply sit in a regular chair. Remember to sit up straight, relax and enjoy.

Get your head massaged and scalp scratched
I love someone gently, but firmly scratching my scalp. I can feel the blood flowing to my head!

Get that stiff neck and shoulders tended to
Neck and shoulders are one of the primary tension areas in most people. Our shoulders tell the world who we are: Shoulders straight back with a military posture denotes a can do person. Shoulder curled forward can denote a hard worker who will endure until all is done.

Get your arms, forearms and hands done
Our hands and arms do so much. Normally we don’t notice them unless we have discomfort or pain. Just having your hands massaged effects the whole body.
From an Oriental Medicine perspective: Your life force (Chi) runs in channels throughout the body. These channels are called meridians and they begin and end at your hands, feet and head. The balance of life force within the meridians govern the function of your body. Too much energy in one channel means there is not enough somewhere else. In Oriental Medicine, the strongest treatment and balance is done at the extremities.

Get your upper, lower back and hips tended to
Sitting for long periods can make back muscles rebel. You can use your breath to work with your therapist. Energy goes where the mind is.
Let your mind be with the tension and the touch of your therapist. Bring your breath there and inhale. Notice the sensation and let there be a pause. Exhale. Let your breathphysically move your body and meet your therapist’s hands without any effort.
Re-acquaint yourself with the accordion nature of the ribs as you breath. Re-acquaint yourself with the refreshment of the breath coming in and the emptying, this natural letting go, as the breath goes out.

Knees to calves and you are done
At this time, you may sense the stress draining down and out your body. Imagine that this can go out your feet and toes. What you image, sends the signals for the nervous system to respond. Add a little feeling to what you image and viola!

Chair massage is great for the elderly and children besides people on the go. Mom’s lap is a great place to introduce baby or toddler to this gentle and therapeutic process. Many of my youngest clients started with me this way.
