Susan Blue, Somatic Therapist and Educator, Registered Craniosacral Therapist

It is 27 years now in this amazing career. I started doing massage therapy and bodywork 3 years before I graduated from the Boulder School of Massage Therapy.

As massage was an emerging health care field, I was fortunate to cover many of the needs that clients would bring:

From a good vigorous Swedish to a relax me and send me to the moon and wipe out the stress. Also there is the undoing of knots, taking the kinks out, straighten out the frame and maybe retrain the driver of that body. Facilitating the release of emotional issues and getting a resetting on the nervous system and body function may have also been included.

Primary, secondary trauma treatment, rehabilitation, pain and illness management became specialties. Therapies that are massage related, but not massage became part of my bag of tricks.

Besides the hands on work, I am a talker. Education is where it is!

If you don’t know much about how your body functions you will have less choices. Having options for managing your stress, or recovery from trauma or illness creates better health for you.

My first 10 years was working primarily with farmers, ranchers, construction, and just plain good folks. They didn’t know much about massage or about their bodies. They often didn’t understand their physicians or physical therapist.

I became famous for my mouth. I have been infamous for patient advocacy. The talent for talking became education for the individual, classes in self-health care and movement re-education.

Much of what I teach was what I needed to do for chronic pain management. I had to tune into myself, live within the boundaries of a scholiotic spine. Adding the disability of 3 spinal fusions forced me to be proactive with my health care. It has taught me about being and conscious awareness. These two things are the most powerful and transformative aspects of our nature. How to use them, takes some skill. I love sharing what I have learned. I love supporting and learning from others as they become skillful in life.
