Our Bodies: Our Only Free Ride

Live Holistically is a multi-author site.

Live Holistically!I’ve been present at the time of a family member’s death at least three times. Recently, while watching a television program, I watched a baby being born; the miracle of life, even from this distance, is astounding! I don’t think I’ve watched anyone being born for a long time. I can remember one of my dogs giving birth in the 70s. Watching any birth, even on television, has a profound affect on me.

The character on television is giving birth naturally and is awake. Her husband and daughter are at her bedside in the delivery room. Joy and excitement fill the room. I think to myself…what possibilities! How precious life.

When The Newness Wares Off

Two days later, sitting at my computer, the newness of these feels has worn off a bit and an email from a friend comes to mind, she says; “losing a tiger, a wolf or bear; does not matter? It’s them or us!” She is talking about ‘nature and wildlife’ and someones attempt to rescue a species from extinction. Needless to say, we have had some heated discussions. And, from the state of the natural world and its inhabitants; there are billions of people who feel the same as my friend. We already know whose winning the ‘them or us’ bout. The ‘them or us’ theory disturbs me. I believe people who think like this are not spending time in nature and are oblivious to the inter-connectedness of life on this planet; when we disrespect and disregard others’ life, we disrespect and disregard our life. These people lack consciousness! They are caught up and lost in money and the material world; they do not grasp or understand the Divinity we are bound to reclaim.

Biting Off Our Nose to Spite Our Face’

I believe probably about 70 percent of human beings disregard and disrespect themselves, the natural world and its inhabitants; and are guilty of short-term thinking and bad planning. Why else would we keep ‘biting off our nose to spite our face’? How else did we get in this predicament; a planet full of diseased and dying inhabitants. How can we change this predicament?

What’s Good For The Goose Is Good For the Gander

Something keeps me trekking into the wilderness. Sure, my dog gives me great incentive. But is there some secret hiding in the lush green, just beyond my step? I keep looking and listening. My health and well-being make it possible for me to hike in the wilderness. I’m there on a daily basis; being there feeds me mentally, spiritually and physically. Sometimes I wonder where my consciousness comes from. Does it come naturally? Have I evolved? Or, is my consciousness the result of good information, planning and time…or is it something I inherited from my parents? Luckily, I have a dog who wags her tail and brings me back to reality. Remember, I have a broad interpretation.

Is it strange that I believe that what’s good for Pieper translates into what’s good for me… and maybe, just maybe what’s good for other human beings? Can ‘The Six Essential Needs of Every Canine‘ be applied to humans? You be the judge.

Balancing Technology and Nature

If one takes the time; how easily those words slip from our mouth; ‘if one takes the time’. Exactly how much time should it take to be mentally, physically and spiritually healthy? Well, if I would just through my ‘television’ out the window. That’s not realistic. I’m watching ‘Survival Man’ in the background as I write. I love it! He presents great information about surviving in the natural world. If you are reading this, then information is at your fingertips. However, coming to a balance with our technological world and nature is an intricate dance. Let’s dance!

Our Bodies: Our Only Free Ride

chakra_meridian_energetic_c.jpgOur bodies are our only free ride in life. Respecting our body and those of others is paramount. Without respect, individually and collectively, we lose and have lost precious years and life. We have a responsibility to do everything we can to be a healthy. Otherwise, we limit what we can do, we become a burden to family and friends’; and our planet continues to become diseased and dying.

I was fortunate to have a mother who knew about healing. Going to a doctor every time there was a cut, runny nose or a fever in the family was not in our budget. I’m not sure where my mother gained her knowledge. She was the oldest of eight children and grew up in the hills of Tennessee. As the oldest, she had the responsibility of helping care for her siblings. This meant there was little time for outside schooling. My guess is, she gained much of her knowledge from my grandmother. I held my head over many a steaming pot to clear my breathing; baking soda was placed on wasp stings; massage to my back to relieve tension on my lungs and ease asthma attacks. I grew up in the forties and fifties and there were no inhalers…or a television. My entertainment came from outside; the woods, running, baseball and games with friends on lawns.

Reclaiming our divinity

successd.jpgIf you don’t want to follow my ‘Six Essential Needs of Every Canine’; you are in luck. Good information is at your fingertips…the challenge; having the discipline to act on and recognize good information. Everyday Health can be achieved. Natural Medicine is a good thing…and in many instances works wonders. You can avoid the flu, simple colds and allergies for yourself and your furry friends by taking time to understand and ask those who have been working with these natural wonders for years. Essential oils, herbs and homeopathy cam work miracles. I’ve found relief for my asthma; heal spurs; and sciatica using all these natural wonders! These natural wonders have made it possible for me to go into the wilderness…where I’m able to find and understand the inter-connectedness of life and glimpse my divinity!

Going into the wilderness every day raises your vibration to match that of the healing trees. Because your vibration is high, you then ’see’ things very differently from those who let their vibration get lower and lower. Once you get to a low point, it is so difficult to get back up, and it usually takes some horrible dis-ease to bring us up with a jolt.

I don’t cope well without a dose of wilderness at least once a week, and if you haven’t got a dog, or even if you have, you can always find that water source to provide your healing water with added benefit of ‘no fluoride’.

So, I’m raising my vibration. How exciting. I had not about this; I bet, besides Pieper, the vibration is what keeps calling me into the woods. I keep finding myself putting on my shoes and heading out. I had a wonderful compliment this a.m., a woman at work said I looked in my late 40s, I’m 64! I believe the trees and water where I hike has something to do with this youthfulness!

Thanks for the insight! Wow! You’re remarkable!

Happiest dog around, I’ll bet. Don’t know who enjoys a winderness romp more, you or pieper! Yes, life used to be simpler, but we don’t have to be overwhelmed by today’s technology, and a dose of outdoors is a cure for the modern blahs.

Your absolutely correct! A good dose of the wilderness is sure to cure any blahs you might start out with.

This is an informative post. I agree that our body is our only free ride. With our body we will not experience many things in our lives and that is the main reason why we should take good care of it.
