108602_massage_chairthumbnail1.jpgA vacation or down time is needed but you only have a few hours, half a day at the most. Here are some tips for getting a mini vacation and some of that stress wiped away.

  • Get a 1/2 hour Hand or Foot Reflexology Treatment. Nerves end at your hands and feet. Massage creates an indirect communication with body parts via those nerves. This way the whole body gets a massage that can be relaxing and invigorating. To know more about reflexology see WIKIPEDIA: Reflexology.
  • Schedule a chair massage. Many Health Food Stores have therapists come in on a regular basis. Some Companies have chair massage weekly or bi-weekly for their employees. Your therapist may be able to sit you in a chair and have you back at work in 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Get a 1/2 hour massage instead of your usual 50 to 90 minutes. You will be surprised at how much can be done in 1/2 hour. You can get an invigorating full-body or just have the areas that hold tension massaged.
  • Breathe deeply into the areas of your body as your therapist hands are there. This will get that area to relax quicker. Your breath can bring more oxygen into your system which will help reduce the effects of fatigue and stress.
  • Let your mind relax and let go of the thoughts. All of that will be there when you are ready to return to work.
  • Bring special music that you know relaxes and energizes you. Many of my clients do this. Some of them have asked for the CD titles that have been part of their session to have at home.
  • Ask for aromatherapy that will enhance your relaxation and also be rejuvenating. Bring a small clean glass bottle for a little of what your therapist uses for rejuvenation. They will show where to apply the oils for best results.
  • Your Health Food Store carries Aromatherapy Oils also. You may check to see what is available in a calming mixture. This is excellent for mental fatigue or situations that may be coming near the “Overwhelm Zone”. You may want to check with your therapist for the best blends to get for home use.
  • Get a Hot Stone Therapy massage then take a cool to cold shower after. Very relaxing and energizing!
  • Get a massage and an herbal wrap. Great for pulling toxins that gets loosened up from your massage. Toxins are what make your muscles sore, stiff, and will in time limit your flexibility and affect your health. Afterwards, take a walk at the edge of town or the edge of a golf course.
  • Part of your stress is not having time for your significant other? Schedule a couples massage with your therapist, Day Spa or local resort. It may take a little research, but it can easily be done.
