How to Resist Your Chocolate Craving

chocheart4706_small.jpgThere’s a siren called Chocolate living in my kitchen cupboard, and every now and then she sings to me as I pass.

There are times when I don’t want to resist her dulcet tones, when I am happy to enjoy that sweet sensation, so smooth, sensuous, satisfying, and so very comforting in my mouth. Today is not one of those days. I have enjoyed two restaurant meals and in the interests of my waistline, I need to resist.

We all know what happens when the self-talk turns to : must not, can’t have, you shouldn’t, you begin to feel deprived, you long for the forbidden substance. You fight the urge until it becomes too much until you just have to indulge. It feels so good while it’s in your mouth and you relish every morsel until it’s gone. And then the guilt sets in, and you feel like the biggest sinner the world ever new, in fact you know that you’re a sinner because you should have had enough will-power to resist, there is nowhere to go for dispensation, you have failed.

This does not need to happen to you ever again. This little tapping routine will take away the cravings, leaving you wondering why you were ever going through this mental torment. You now have a tool that can help you forever get past your tangles with food.

This is what you do:

Tap with the fingers of your right hand on the side of your left hand three times (reverse this if you are left handed), and say out loud as you tap:

Even though I can’t resist that lovely chocolate, I love and accept myself

Then start at the top of your head tapping with two or three fingers about 5 times repeating:

” Chocolate”

Work your way down the points on the diagram:

  1. corner of eyeEFT Tapping Points

  2. outside corner of eye

  3. under eye

  4. under nose

  5. chin

  6. collar bone

  7. under arm (about 4 inches from arm pit)

I guarantee that you won’t ever need will-power again.

Well, I’ll keep tapping…I’ve got one piece of Hershey’s chocolate on my desk. I’ll see how long it lasts using your ‘tapping’ technique! Thanks for the tip. I hope it works.

Hi Gail,
Best to smell it through the wrapper, tap down the craving, and then you won’t get the feeling that you’ve wasted it.
