Live Holistically! In my post “Free Health Care Veto: Educate Yourself”

I promised to create a resource for those who need to be able to take responsibility for their own health care, for whatever reason. The article section will explain the mechanics of different healing methods, and so as we go along, I shall point to: EFT , Essential Oils or Herbal Teas and know that you have access to the essentials, which will make it easy for you to follow what I am saying.

Abdominal Cramps

There is much dis-ease that can be healed using natural health therapies, and abdominal cramps may be one of those conditions. On the other hand, if there is vomiting or fever, or an increase of pain when touched, a trusted health practitioner needs to be consulted.

If however, you have been through the usual tests and nothing is suggested other than chemical pain killers, this is another route that you could follow.

Origins of Pain

All pain has its foundation in fear. If you think about the places in the body that fear is felt, you will recognize what I mean. You may feel as if someone has kicked you in the gut, or you might feel like your bowels have turned to water, or lose your breath and be unable to breathe. Asthma often has its roots in fear.

Guilty As Charged

The pain that you feel with your cramps is an indication that you have judged yourself, found yourself guilty, and sentence of pain has been pronounced. It becomes your punishment.

Guilt is a totally useless emotion. It doesn’t make you feel any better or change the situation, it needs to be given up and let go.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

The first method of addressing any long standing pain is by using EFT tapping. (See article on EFT Essentials) use the set-up statements:

  • Even though I find it difficult to trust the process of life, I love and accept myself
  • Even though I find it hard to trust, I love and forgive myself
  • Even though I have these cramps in my gut, I love and accept myself.
  • Even though fear is stopping me from doing the things I enjoy, I love and accept myself
  • Even though I find it hard to love myself, I accept and forgive myself anyway

You may find that the pains go straight away, if this isn’t the case use the sequences above before going to bed each night, and you will find relief.

Affirmations: (Subscribe via. email and receive Free Affirmation Guide Book)

Throughout your day find time to repeat:

  • I trust the process of life….. at least 20 times
  • I am safe….. at least 20 times

Be creative, set them to a tune, say them in the bathroom, under the shower, washing-up

Energy Healing

Everyone can do this, you don’t have to be a healer.

  • Lie down and place your hands on your abdomen, where you have felt pain
  • Imagine the warmth of the sun flowing through your body
  • Take that sun and put it on your abdomen
  • Feel its warmth soothing your cramped muscles
  • Breath it in and enjoy

Herbal Tinctures

These are easily available at health food shops or on-line, if money is very short you can make your own. Use:

  • Valerian, which is an anti-spasmodic and nervine, it will calm your fears and allow the previous methods time to do their work
  • Cayenne for its warmth and general circulation booster. (This will also help you to lose weight, should you want to.)

Supplements

A good idea to boost general health, and if you use simple supplements, very inexpensive.

  • Brewers Yeast to boost your B vitamin intake
  • Vitamin E is a good supplement if you can find a simple one (not in combination)

Foods To Include

If vitamin supplements are hard to aquire make sure to include some of these foods in your diet:

  • Wholegrain cereals
  • Nuts (raw un-salted)
  • Seeds: sunflower, linseed, cotton-seed, sesame
  • Pulses: peas, beans, lentils
  • Brown rice
  • Green vegetables: turnip greens or dandelion leaves (tiny leaves used in salads)

These help to protect you against harmful environmental effects, and are anti-oxidant which reduces oxygen requirement to the muscles. Useful with cramps.

Breathing

Learning how to breath helps any condition:

  • Sit on your bed, hands in your lap and spine straight
  • Take a deep breath through your nose until your lungs are full
  • Let it out slowly through you mouth while making a HAAAaah sound
  • Allow your shoulders to drop as you exhale, but keep your spine straight.

As you practice this your lungs will increase in capacity, also a good stress buster.

Drinks

  • If you are over 30 your thirst reflex will have disappeared, and so even if you don’t want to, drink 2 litres of water daily (You may have to work up to this)
  • Substitute herbal teas for ordinary tea and coffee, chamomile will help you to relax, peppermint is a pleasant drink (use tea-bags in the same way that you would ordinary tea, but no sugar or milk)
  • wean yourself off soda, perseverance is worth while

hearts.gifLearning to take care of yourself is the greatest gift that you can receive, take pleasure in your gift.
