One of the reasons I love Mediterranean food so much is that it’s all about eating seasonally. The daily trip to the market dictates what’s for dinner. Maybe this isn’t practical anymore in our modern culture but whenever possible I shop at farmer’s markets and eat from the garden. Last night was fresh beets cooked and dressed simply with rice wine vinegar and fresh mint, local corn, carrots and tomatoes from the garden and zucchini sauteed in garlic and olive oil. Since this was a vegetarian night I served it with brown rice.
Another blogger devoted to eating local seasonal food is 24 boxes, 24 boxes is “devoted to seasonal cooking with fresh local ingredients” The recipes and pictures are inspiring. I’ll be checking back often.

When am I invited round for dinner. This food made me want to eat right now, even though it’s not dinner time.
