45 Steps to a Healthy Holistic Lifestyle

Live Holistically is a multi-author site.
This post was written by: MichelleVan

Forty five simple, easy, beginner steps you can take today to lead you to a more Holistic Lifestyle. If you already consider yourself a holistic person ask yourself:

holistic sunsetHow many of these do I do now on a regular basis?

Why do you want a holistic lifestyle? You’ll feel better, have more energy, live longer (probably), be at peace during stressful times, and keep the worry- wort at bay.

Here they are:

  1. Buy organic carrots instead of commercially grown. They are readily available in most grocery stores
  2. Breathe Deeply right now. Visualize the breath going all the way to your toes and up through your head. Repeat
  3. Reach your hands up over your head and stretch
  4. Reach your hands down to your toes and stretch
  5. Smile at a stranger
  6. Laugh at yourself
  7. Listen to your favorite music and dance around the house
  8. Meditate for 1 minute
  9. Walk barefoot on the ground, connect with the earth
  10. Try yoga
  11. Try a different type of yoga
  12. Park at the back of the parking lot and walk
  13. Make a stir fry with tofu instead of meat
  14. Hug a child - preferably yours or one you know
  15. Visit a farmers market. Talk with the organic produce vendors
  16. Buy this book and try one thing from it:Prescription for Nutritional Healing I’ve used it for years and highly recommend it
  17. Smell the flowers
  18. Pet a dog or a cat. Allergies? Try a homeopathic allergy remedy from your local health food store
  19. Give yourself in service once in a while
  20. Listen to a spiritual teaching
  21. Smell Lavender or another essential oil
  22. Press lightly on your temples for one minute next time you have a headache before taking medication
  23. Drink juice instead of pop. Water instead of juice
  24. Water down your juice x 10 - build up to it if you have to
  25. Drink spring water
  26. Listen twice as much as you talk. (you have two ears and one mouth)
  27. Get outside in all kinds of weather. What are you? A wicked witch? You won’t melt
  28. Give up listening or participating in gossip. If you are in a conversation about someone not present, gently change the subject
  29. Be present. Stay focused on your task at hand
  30. Give thanks at least once per day. Count your blessings
  31. Go to a playground and play
  32. Put your toes in the sand. Preferably at a beach
  33. Listen to the birds
  34. Travel. Get out of your comfort zone. Watch how other people live
  35. Read something funny
  36. Turn off the TV for one night. (work up to a month at a time)
  37. Eat avocados, nuts and seeds for Essential Fatty Acids. They’ll help you have a better attitude and ward off depression
  38. Take up a hobby, develop interests
  39. Don’t be afraid to take advantage of all types of medicine available to you. Foods, Herbals, Homeopathy, Counseling, Bodywork, and/or Pharmaceuticals. Only you know what is right for your body. (with help from your docs and health care practitioners)
  40. Tune in and trust your own instincts. Listen to your own voice. Follow your path
  41. Watch a Sunset
  42. Get up early, watch a sunrise
  43. Stay up late and talk philosophy with your best friend
  44. Take a nap when you need to
  45. Pray. Don’t believe in God? Pray anyway. It reduces blood pressure

Bonus Tip:

Don’t take yourself too seriously, we are all on the path learning together.

I know I shouldn’t have to say it, but none of us over here at Live Holistically are doctors. We are writers, bloggers, friends who are writing about our own experiences. If you need medical advice, go get some.

Yes I agree with the above, — they do bring peace of mind, especially watching the sunrises and sunsets while dipping toes in the sand at a beach.

Have doubts about the organic carrots though, as they are limp, - where we are anyway.
